About Denver Screen Print & Embroidery

We started printing shirts in 1983, and started specifically focusing on organic cotton and sustainable promotional apparel in several years later.

Initially we weren’t called Denver Screen Print & Embroidery. We were just two guys in a garage, in fashionable Cherry Creek North in Denver, Colorado, with a license from the BBC (British Broadcasting Corporation) to produce T-shirts with the logo of one of their TV properties, DOCTOR WHO. We had started The Doctor Who Fan Club of America and had 50,000 members who all wanted T-Shirts! We had problems finding reliable printers; all we wanted was someone to print our shirts accurately, deliver them on a timely schedule and not charge us a fortune (sound familiar?). After realizing “that screen printer” didn’t exist, we built our own facility and started our own company. We still have those same core values in our business today.

Since that time, our company bought advanced equipment and moved around town, finally landing at our current  factory in the LoHi district  and have been decorating apparel for our customers in the Denver area for over 3 decades.

Denver Screen Print & Embroidery evolved into a leader in the marketplace.  We’re not only a pioneer in silk screen printing techniques and cutting edge in fashion garments for our customers, but we’re leaders in the United States for environmentally responsible practices in our industry.

Our main thrust  to the environment started in the 1990’s by switching to water based inks as a regular printing method. In fact, we were “GREEN” before the word was actually coined for environmental responsibility! Water base inks are not only good for the environment, but they create a fabulous high quality product! We still use plastisol inks when the job calls for it, but always prefer using WB.

In the spirit of being “green”,  we started to focus on organic cotton promotional apparel around the turn of the century. To that end we  designed and developed our own line of organic cotton shirts called Organic Apparel: organic cotton grown in the USA, spun into yarn, knit into fabric, cut and sewn into shirts…all in the USA. From seeds to t-shirts, a vertical USA product.  Unfortunately, the big companies realized what a great product and move this was and started producing their own organic cotton shirts. We couldn’t compete with them, so Organic Apparel slid by the wayside. However, we still use great organic cotton goods and have found even better “sustainable” solutions to promotional apparel. We’ve sourced companies who make shirts, bags and other printable apparel out of recycled water bottles, beer and soda bottles, recycled x-ray sheets, bamboo; things that require less water usage and are so much better for the environment.  This is not to say we don’t use all the great brands and commercial apparel that are available, because we do. We just look for and find innovative things all the time: it’s our passion, our DNA.

Our embroidery division often runs around the clock and is second to none in quality and reliability.  We have a great art department that can help you create the designs you’re looking for.  If you have your own design or company logo, we can transfer it into a format that can be printed or embroidered easily and efficiently.

These things, plus the focus on sustainable promotional apparel and environmentally friendly inks make up  our core values and who we are. Our company does not change from time to time, situation to situation, or person to person, but rather the above explanation is the underpinning of our company culture. This is the heart and soul of our company, transcending growth rates and profit! These are the reason you should consider doing business with Denver Screen Print & Embroidery.
