Denver Screen Print & Embroidery began screen printing in 1983. A more antiquated term referring to the same process, is silk screening. This term comes from a time when silk was the only fabric used. So what is silk screening/screen printing? It's a process that creates prints on a variety of different materials.

So how do we differ from other printers? We use water base inks, and prefer not to use plastisol like other printers. We have a pretty good reason for it, too: we are committed to fulfilling our responsibility toward our planet. This water based printing process is the cleanest, most environmentally responsible approach. Another reason? It created a better overall product; softer, lighter, and more durable. Here at Denver Screen Print, we believe that a high quality print doesn't need to come at the cost of our environment.

We printed Fingers Crossed Racing's t-shirts with our water based ink process. We prefer water-based inks to plastisol inks (which are petroleum based) because not only are they the environmentally responsible alternative, but water based inks also produce a better, final product. Water based inks become part of the garment and breathe with it, as opposed to plastisol-- which sits on top of the fabric and feels rubbery. This means the print on these t-shirts will look great and feel soft, lasting the life of the garment itself, and will never crack, fade, or peel. Interested in making your own t-shirts? We are very proud to be a part of the Colorado Ballet's 2012 T-Shirt Design Contest!

T-SHIRT DESIGN CONTEST 2012: Colorado Ballet is calling students and professionals of all ages to participate in a t-shirt design contest for Colorado Ballet’s Summer Intensive Program. Designs should be one-sided and do not need but can include Colorado Ballet’s logo (the logo will be on the other side of the t-shirt).

DESIGN CONTEST GUIDELINES: T-Shirts will be manufactured by Denver Screen Print and Embroidery (DSPE, www.dspe.us). T-Shirt color can be any color offered by DSPE, but default will be black or light color of the Colorado Ballet staff if no t-shirt color is specified. T-Shirts will be screen printed and should be limited to one, two, or three colors. Entries should be in JPEG or PDF format.

ENTRY COST: FREE

Key (optional) phases and words: Summer Intensive Program | Participant | SIP | 2012 | Colorado Ballet or CB

Low to high quality submissions (maximum 300 dpi) should be submitted to Phoebe Coleman no later than April 30, 2012 by email, fax, in person, or mail with an entry form.

WIN A $100 Whole Foods or a $100 Restaurant Kevin Taylor GIFT CARD!! Winner of the T-Shirt Design Contest will win a $100 Whole Foods Market gift card to be picked up after May 2012.Second place screen print design winner will be awarded a $100 Restaurant Kevin Taylor gift certificate.

Winner will also receive a free t-shirt with their winning design in July. Winning design will be announced in Colorado Ballet Academy’s newsletter in June. Design winner will need to provide a high resolution JPEG by May 7.
